The upcoming 2024 Spring Elections in Louisiana are fast approaching, and it is important for voters to be aware of the key dates and requirements.

The Presidential Preference Primary Election, which is open only to registered Republicans and Democrats, will be held on March 23, 2024. The deadline to register to vote in person or by mail is February 21, while the deadline for online registration is March 2. Early voting will take place from March 9 to March 16 at the Registrar of Voters office, with hours from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., except on Sundays. On Election Day, polling stations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In addition to the Presidential Preference Primary Election, the Village East Fire Prop Election is scheduled for April 27, 2024. The registration deadline for this election is March 27 for in-person or mail registration, and April 4 for online registration. Early voting for the Village East Fire Prop Election will take place from April 13 to April 20, with the same hours as the Presidential Preference Primary Election.

It is important to note that the deadline to add more propositions to the general election is March 4, 2024.

To assist voters in making informed decisions, sample ballots will be available for viewing on the Geaux Vote app or on the website geauxvote.com. The Registrar of Voters will also have sample ballots posted for viewing.

To verify their current registration status and polling location, voters can use the Geaux Vote app or visit the Registrar of Voters office. Any changes to registration must be made before the respective registration deadlines mentioned above.

When going to vote, it is crucial for voters to be fully prepared and have their picture identification ready.

For those who qualify, mail ballot requests can be submitted. The eligibility criteria for mail ballots can be found on geauxvote.com.

The Registrar of Voters has provided some additional information. Precinct changes have occurred, and affected voters have been sent new voter ID cards to inform them of the changes. Voters are encouraged to check geauxvote.com to confirm their registration and precinct location.

For mail ballot voters, it is essential to complete all parts of the affidavit envelope, including the Mother's Maiden Name box, to ensure their vote counts.

A flyer is available to explain who is eligible to vote in the March election. Voters have until the registration deadline to change their party affiliation or make any other necessary changes to their registration.

If there are any questions or concerns, voters can contact the Registrar of Voters office at 985-873-6533.

As the 2024 Spring Elections draw near, it is crucial for registered voters in Louisiana to familiarize themselves with the important dates, requirements, and resources available to them.
