Assumption Parish authorities arrest man for failure to appear on felony finance charges

Marquis L. Watkins, 31, of New Orleans, has been arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court in Assumption Parish regarding several felony financial crime charges. According to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, Watkins was previously ordered to attend a court hearing on August 11, 2025, after being arrested on related charges.

Sheriff Leland Falcon stated that when Watkins did not appear as required, a warrant for his arrest was issued on August 13, 2025. Authorities located and arrested Watkins in Orleans Parish. He was then transferred to the custody of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on March 5, 2026.

Watkins faces charges connected to identity theft, forgery, bank fraud, and computer fraud stemming from his earlier arrest. He is currently held at the Assumption Parish Detention Center with bond set at $50,000.
