The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on Apr. 28 that registration is open for its Summer Basketball and Volleyball Leagues in 2026. The programs are part of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Recreation Program and are available to children across the parish.
The announcement highlights the importance of providing recreational opportunities for local youth during the summer months. Both leagues are free of charge and open to boys and girls within specified age groups, with activities taking place at Napoleonville Middle School Gym in Napoleonville, Louisiana.
Sheriff Leland J. Falcon said, “Sheriff Leland J. Falcon welcomes BACK the children of the parish to register for the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Recreation Program Summer Basketball League.” Registration for basketball will begin April 4 from 10 a.m. to noon at Napoleonville Middle School, with forms available at all parish schools and sheriff’s office locations. The basketball league will run from June 1 through June 18, accepting participants aged six to fifteen years old.
For those interested in volleyball, registration also begins April 4 at Napoleonville Middle School Gym. The volleyball league is open to boys and girls aged six to fourteen years old and will be held July 7 through July 23. Practices and games are scheduled throughout July, with specific times set by age group.
The program notes that transportation will not be provided for either league, and volunteers are needed as coaches or scorekeepers. For questions about participation or volunteering, contact information is provided for Lt. Byron Parker at the sheriff’s office as well as Felicia Moore regarding volleyball inquiries.
Both leagues encourage early registration by allowing forms to be picked up or dropped off at every school in the parish, all sheriff’s office locations, and three APSO substations.
