The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on May 13 the arrest of Curtis Paul Gaudet, age 53, following a traffic incident in the Bayou L’Ourse area. The arrest was made after a patrol deputy observed an off-road vehicle being operated without a safety helmet on LA. 663 near Rayne Court.
Authorities say that when the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, Gaudet tried to evade law enforcement and discarded items from his pockets during the pursuit. After apprehending Gaudet, deputies recovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia at the scene.
Sheriff Leland Falcon said that Curtis Paul Gaudet was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on several charges including possession of methamphetamine, obstruction of justice, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer, operating an off-road vehicle on a roadway, no safety helmet, and as a fugitive from St. Mary Parish for driving under suspension.
