The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on Apr. 29 the arrest of Huey John Hue, age 63, of Pierre Part, Louisiana, on charges related to failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
According to the sheriff’s office, compliance with registration is mandatory for individuals convicted of certain offenses. The case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to ensure public safety and enforce these legal obligations.
Sheriff Leland Falcon said that Hue was previously convicted on March 15, 2001, for crimes involving pornography with juveniles and indecent behavior with juveniles under the age of 17. As a result of his conviction and subsequent release from incarceration, he was required by law to maintain current sex offender registration information.
Authorities reported that Hue failed to fulfill these requirements, which led to a warrant being issued for his arrest on April 28. He was taken into custody Tuesday evening and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on one count of Notification of Sex Offenders and Child Predators Required.
Hue remains in custody awaiting a bond hearing. For more information about this case or other inquiries related to this news release, Sheriff Leland Falcon or Public Information Officer Lonny Cavalier can be contacted at (985) 498-9353 or (985) 369-2912.
