Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon announced on Apr. 22 the arrest of Jailen Jacobe Watts, age 22, of Belle Rose, Louisiana, following a traffic stop near Paincourtville that led to multiple felony charges related to drugs and firearms.

The incident occurred in the 6000 block of LA. 308 when a narcotics agent observed a vehicle committing several traffic violations. After stopping the vehicle, the agent identified Watts as the driver and noticed numerous containers suspected to contain controlled dangerous substances along with a firearm inside the car.

Sheriff Falcon said that agents obtained consent from Watts to search his vehicle. During this search, they seized what was described as a significant amount of Schedule I controlled dangerous substances—specifically, 249 containers—and a large caliber firearm.

Watts was arrested at the scene and booked into Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges including possession with intent to distribute Schedule I controlled dangerous substances, illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, improper equipment, illegal window tint, and improper turning.

As of this announcement, Watts remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing. For further information regarding this case or news release, Sheriff Leland Falcon or Public Information Officer Lonny Cavalier can be contacted at (985) 498-9353 or (985) 369-2912.
