The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office announced on April 30 the arrest of Melissa J. Baldwin, age 49, in connection with an incident involving unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in Pierre Part.

The announcement highlights law enforcement efforts to address property crimes and keep the public informed about recent arrests and ongoing investigations.

According to Sheriff Leland Falcon, deputies responded to a complaint on April 23 regarding a stolen vehicle in the 1900 block of LA. 70. The complainant told deputies that his former domestic partner, identified as Melissa J. Baldwin, may have taken his 2007 Land Rover without permission. Authorities entered the vehicle into the National Crime Information Center Database for tracking purposes.

Baldwin was subsequently arrested by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office on April 24 and later transferred to Assumption Parish custody on April 29. She was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
