Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon announced on Apr. 14 the arrest of Trey Michael Hebert, age 30, from Metairie, Louisiana, following a traffic stop in Labadieville. The incident took place Monday afternoon on LA.1 when a patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit several traffic violations and initiated a stop.
According to the sheriff’s office, during the stop, the deputy saw Hebert switch seats with another passenger before making contact with him. The deputy reported detecting a strong odor of alcoholic beverages coming from Hebert and attempted to take him into custody. Authorities said Hebert resisted but was ultimately arrested.
Hebert was transported to the Assumption Parish Detention Center for booking. During this process, officials said he became hostile and made aggressive threats toward the deputy involved in his arrest.
A search warrant was obtained for a blood sample from Hebert, which was collected at a local healthcare facility as part of an investigation into suspected driving while intoxicated.
Hebert faces several charges including felony public intimidation by threats, first-offense driving while intoxicated (with blood draw), driving under a suspended license, unlawful refusal to submit to chemical testing, possession of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle, resisting an officer, simple assault, prohibited use of wireless telecommunications devices in school zones, and speeding in a school zone.
As of this report’s release date, authorities confirmed that Hebert remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
