Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office arrests man on drug charges after traffic stop

A man was arrested on felony drug charges following a traffic stop south of Napoleonville, according to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Leland Falcon stated that Eric Chavez, 38, of Thibodaux, Louisiana, was taken into custody after a patrol deputy observed his vehicle with an equipment violation and conducted a stop.

The deputy interviewed Chavez during the stop and determined that further investigation was necessary. Consent to search the vehicle was granted by Chavez. During the search, deputies found cocaine in the vehicle.

Chavez was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center. He faces charges of possession of cocaine and having a modified exhaust system. He remains in custody pending a bond hearing.
