August marks a year since the devastation of Hurricane Ida; an  unforeseen catastrophe, our area was not prepared for. The  Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce invites you to attend a Hurricane  preparedness event with state and local representatives on Thursday  August 11th from 11 am – 1pm at the Terrebonne Parish Library located at  151 Library Dr, Houma, LA 70360.
The event will feature Patrick W Bell; assistant commissioner for the  Louisiana Department of Insurance, Ruby W. Douglas; Section Chief  Preparedness for the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security &  Emergency Preparedness, Martha Moore; FEMA Hazard Mitigation, Jimmy  Nguyen; Assistant Director for the Louisiana Small Business Development  Center, and Earl Eues; Director for Terrebonne Parish Office of Homeland  Security & Emergency Preparedness. Come out and learn all the  lessons brought forth from the devastation of Ida and get the latest  updates.

Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon announced the arrest of Grant Paul Johnson for violating probation terms after an earlier conviction. Authorities say Johnson turned himself in and is being held without bond.
