Nicholls Presents 10 Academic Awards During University Convocation

THIBODAUX, La. — Nicholls State  University presented 10 academic awards to its faculty and staff during  the fall 2022 University Convocation on Wednesday, Aug. 10. The event  featured opening remarks by Nicholls State University President, Dr. Jay  Clune.
Below is a list of awards and recipients from the event:

  • Presidential Award for Teaching Excellence – Eugene Gouaux, Associate Professor of Business Law
  • Wayne Patten #1 Endowed Professorship in Business – Dr. Adrien Maught, Instructor of Marketing
  • Buquet Dyslexia Endowed Professorship in Education – Jason Talbot, Director/Coordinator of Assessments & Research
  • Maxine Giardina Endowed Professorship in Education – Carole Boos, Assessment Coordinator 
  • John  Brady Jr. Endowed Professorship in Liberal Arts – Dr. Andrew  Simoncelli, Director of Distance Education, Associate Professor of  Journalism
  • Belle  & Leonard Toups – Writing Endowed Professorship in Liberal Arts –  Dr. Katherine Connor, Associate Professor of English 
  • Belle  & Leonard Toups – Literary Studies Endowed Professorship in Liberal  Arts – Dr. Michael Martin, Associate Professor of English
  • Belle  & Leonard Toups – Language Studies Endowed Professorship in Liberal  Arts – Dr. Robin White, Associate Professor of English and French
  • Belle & Leonard Toups – Cultural Studies Endowed Professorship in Liberal Arts – Dr. Shana Walton, Professor of English 
  • Academic Affairs Award for Teaching Excellence – Dr. Todd Keller, Vice Provost
