The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued an update regarding the risk of flash flooding in the area. According to the latest information, there have been no major changes in the heavy rain and flooding risk since the previous update.

A marine dense fog advisory will be issued for coastal areas this evening into Wednesday morning. In addition, a Coastal Flood Advisory will be issued for east-facing shorelines and coastal areas in Mississippi for the high-tide cycle tonight.

While scattered to isolated showers and a few storms are expected this evening and tonight, the main concern for the area will begin early Wednesday through Friday. As storms become more widespread, there is a possibility that they may slow down or train over the same areas, increasing the risk of flash flooding.

The highest confidence for flash flooding will be from near Baton Rouge, Louisiana to McComb, Mississippi and northward. However, flash flooding will be possible across the entire area.

On Wednesday, a few storms may be locally strong to severe, with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes possible.

Multiple waves of heavy thunderstorms are expected to persist at times until Friday, with the last round pushing through on Saturday before exiting to the east. As a result, rises on area rivers and streams can be expected, and smaller tributaries could reach minor to moderate flood stages.

In light of these updates, it is important for residents in the affected areas to stay informed and prepared for the potential impacts of heavy rain and flash flooding. It is advisable to follow any instructions or warnings issued by local authorities.

According to the National Weather Service, "The main concern for our area will begin early Wednesday thru Friday, as storms become more widespread by entering from the west and may slow down/train over the same areas leading to the risk of flash flooding."

They also stated, "A few storms may be locally strong to severe on Wednesday, with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes possible."

Residents are encouraged to monitor the weather conditions closely and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
