The Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government will be accepting applications for its Section 8 Rental Assistance Program on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. The application period will be from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Dumas Auditorium located at 301 W Tunnel Blvd., Houma, Louisiana 70360.

Applications will only be accepted from applicants who qualify for the Displaced Public Housing Resident (DPHR) preference. It is important to note that applicants must provide verification of this preference at the time of intake, otherwise their application will not be accepted.

To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet certain income guidelines. The guidelines are based on the number of people in the household and their annual gross income. The income limits range from $25,750 for a household of one person to $848,550 for a household of eight people.

In addition to the DPHR preference, there are other local preferences that applicants may qualify for. These include the Working preference, which requires documentation such as check stubs for the past three months. The Disabled preference requires a Social Security award letter or statement from a physician. The Local Residency preference requires a current State of LA photo ID stating the current physical address. Finally, the Honorably Discharged Veteran preference requires discharge papers.

For applicants who qualify for the Displaced Public Housing Resident preference, they must provide documentation from their previous public housing agency to verify their status.

It is important to note that the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program is not an emergency assistance program. All eligible applications will be placed on the Section 8 waiting list based on local preferences and the date and time of receipt. Applicants will be notified of the decision regarding their application via mail.

If you have any questions about the Terrebonne Parish Section 8 Program or the application process, you can contact them at 985-219-2912.

This is a great opportunity for individuals and families in Terrebonne Parish who are in need of rental assistance. Don't miss the chance to apply and secure a spot on the waiting list for the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program.
