This spring, the Terrebonne Parish Library System is offering a unique opportunity for community members to witness the transformation of butterflies through an educational program. Starting in early March, all library branches in Terrebonne Parish will host living caterpillars within nets, providing visitors with a close-up view of the butterfly life cycle.
The event series will conclude with the La Mariposa Butterfly Release and Picnic at the Main Library on April 12 at 11 a.m. The event includes a story time session and an outdoor walking parade, during which butterflies raised in the library will be released into a community garden.
Attendees are invited to bring their own picnic lunch and enjoy a day filled with learning about nature. The event is free and open to everyone.
For more information on dates and times for butterfly release events at other library locations, individuals can visit the library's calendar at mytpl.org or contact their preferred library branch.
