The National Weather Service (NWS) has provided an update on the ongoing cold weather event taking place in January 2024. As of the latest update at 6AM, several changes have been observed in the cold-related hazards.
According to the NWS, the Hard Freeze Warning and Wind Chill Advisory will expire at 10am today. This means that no new headlines are expected for tonight. The southern half of the area is expected to warm above freezing by 10am today, followed by the entire area reaching above freezing by noon. However, the northern half of the area will still experience below freezing temperatures for one more night, specifically tonight and Thursday morning.
The NWS also mentions that moderation in temperatures is expected on Thursday and Friday, eliminating any concerns of winter precipitation during this period. However, it is important to note that the next high probability for a hard freeze will occur at the end of the week, specifically during the overnight hours.
