The Houma Elks Lodge #1193 organized its annual Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest on February 8, 2025, at the Houma First United Methodist Church. The event featured young athletes competing in a display of skill and determination.

The Elks Hoop Shoot is a national contest aimed at teaching youth between the ages of 8 and 13 about hard work, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Participants compete within their age divisions to qualify for the next stage of the competition.

After an intense competition at the free-throw line, four local champions emerged: Jackson Eschete in the 8-9 Boys category, Zander Collinson in the 10-11 Boys category, Declan Fremin in the 12-13 Boys category, and Emma Falgout in the 12-13 Girls category.

These winners will represent Houma Elks Lodge #1193 at the Louisiana Elks Association State Hoop Shoot Contest scheduled for February 22, 2025, at Westminster Christian Academy in Opelousas, LA.

The Elks Hoop Shoot serves as more than just a competitive event; it provides youth with opportunities to build confidence and discipline. Winners from the state level will advance to Regional and National Finals in Chicago, Illinois. There they will compete for the title of National Hoop Shoot Champion.

Houma Elks Lodge #1193 extended congratulations to all participants and expressed gratitude towards volunteers, parents, and supporters who contributed to making the event successful.
