The Terrebonne Parish Library will host its annual Art Supply Swap on Saturday, August 17, at the Main Library, located at 151 Library Drive in Houma, next to the Civic Center.

Community members with extra art supplies in good condition are encouraged to participate. The event aims to divert materials from landfills while promoting environmentally friendly creation.

Participants can donate new or gently used art supplies during Donation Days from August 5-16 at the Main Library. Those who donate will receive a "30-minute early-bird ticket" for the Giveaway Day from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on August 17. The Giveaway Day will be open to all community members from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Donation rules specify that only arts and craft materials in reusable condition are accepted. Categories include sewing materials, yarn, paintbrushes, canvases, beads, paper, stickers, frames, and other craft items. Items such as broken materials, electric equipment, lumber, in-progress artworks, and solvents are not accepted.

On Giveaway Day, patrons will receive a large paper bag to fill with art supplies they plan to use. The first 100 adult and teen patrons will also receive a souvenir tote bag. Additionally, patrons may carry out one item by hand if it does not fit in the bag.

The program is sponsored by the Terrebonne Parish Library System and the Bayou Regional Arts Council.

For more information or to verify acceptable donation items, email Cierra Hughes at chughes@mytpl.org or call 985-876-5861 ext. 240.
